The interlock sealer that you choose to seal your interlocking bricks with is very important. If you choose a sealer that isn’t appropriate for your stones or one that is of poor quality, you will likely cause irreversible damages to your bricks. We always recommend using a solvent based sealer for all interlock surfaces. If possible, an industrial grade solvent based sealant is preferable. These sealers are not often available to the general public and is one major reason hiring a professional to seal your interlock driveway is a good idea.

There are solvent-based sealers available in stores for the general public. However, err on the side of caution. Many of these sealers are not as strong or contain nearly as much solvent as an industrial grade sealer would. These are essentially “watered-down” versions of sealer. While these sealants may do a fair job of sealing and protecting your interlocking initially, it will not be long until you are left wondering why your surface become dull again. These store bought sealers are not as durable and have a short life when applied. One more point to note is that the price of these sealers in stores is greatly marked up, especially compared to the quality of the material. These sealers can be anywhere from 25% to 50% more expensive than their manufactured price. Make sure to do your research and consult with an interlocking professional before purchasing a sealer for your stone. Save your time, effort, energy and money.
